Kitty, Celeste, Andy and I were able to attend Bud's funeral in York, AL this morning. We all had a chance to visit with Mrs. Truett and Barbara. Mrs. Truett was so appreciative of the phone calls and messages that had come from many of you. She was holding up well under the circumstances, as was Barbara. The funeral home was filled with friends who had come to pay their respects. Both sides of the highway were lined with cars and trucks.
Several passages of scripture were read and we all participated in reciting the 23rd Psalm. The minister talked about what a good person Bud was and how much he cared about his friends. He noted Bud's involvement in Boy Scouts both in Oxford and for many years in Livingston.( I think that something to do with Boy Scouts may be the way we might want to honor him).
After the service, the four of us had lunch and reminisced about Bud. I think it might be a good way to celebrate him if we shared stories through our email list over the next several days/weeks. I am sure we all have one or two that we could share!
